This class will focus on the fundamentals of creating a paper case file to support the state prosecution of a continuing criminal enterprise. Attendees will learn how to successfully draft and execute state search warrants for sensitive financial records and use court orders and subpoenas to obtain similar types of information. Additionally, attendees will gain an understanding of the evidentiary foundations necessary to introduce financial and other business records as exhibits in state court, as well as a method for organizing and presenting voluminous evidence to a jury in a simple, organized fashion. This class will include a review of the impacts created by the Bank Secrecy Act and the NC Financial Privacy Act on the investigative efforts of law enforcement and an introduction of the new money laundering state statute in NC.
