Cyber Challenges in Health Care: Managing for Operational Resilience



Health-care organizations are seemingly besieged by a complex set of cyber threats. The consequences of disruptive cyber events in health care are in many ways uniquely troubling. Health-care organizations often face these challenges with modest resources. In this webcast, Matthew Butkovic and Darrell Keeling will explore approaches to maximize return on cybersecurity investment in the health-care context. This will include applying fundamental measures of operational resilience.

Speaker and Presenter Information

Matthew Butkovic is the Technical Director of the Cyber Risk and Resilience Directorate in the CERT Division of the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Butkovic performs critical infrastructure protection research and develops methods, tools, and techniques for evaluating capabilities and managing risk. This includes addressing the challenges of complex supply chains.

 

Dr. Darrell Keeling is the Senior Vice President of IT (CISO) at Parkview Health. He oversees the security and interoperability of the health-care IT systems, ensuring the protection of patient data and the seamless communication of patient information across various platforms and providers. With over eight years of experience in this role, Darrell has led multiple initiatives to enhance the security posture, governance, and compliance of the organization as well as to improve the efficiency, quality, and usability of the IT infrastructure and applications.
