From Tender Bites to K8s Bytes: The Making of Portworx BBQ

For October, Andrew Miller invites technical marketing extraordinaire Eric Shanks to the Coffee Break. Eric is currently the Principal Technical Marketing Manager for Portworx� by Pure Storage. In previous lives, he has been a customer, partner, VMUG leader, VCDX, author, blogger, and more. Today he focuses on all things Kubernetes—writing blogs and recording videos about Portworx and its amazing capabilities.

This will be a follow-up of the previous August 2022 Coffee Break “The Hardware Free Zone: A Career Arc from Network-> VMware-> Storage-> K8s” with Jon Owings. But this time, we’ll break out of slides into actual demos!

We’ll wander our way through:

• Eric’s career history and lessons learned—from customer to partner to vendor, and from a VMware-focused career (yes, he’s a VCDX) to containers/Kubernetes.
• What’s new in the K8s/container landscape (VMware impact might be an item).
• Update on Portworx capabilities and focus. As the K8s landscapes evolves, data still matters and protecting/securing/mobilizing it is critical.
• Making it real—actual demos of Portworx capabilities via a fictional company named Portworx BBQ.
