Bruce R Shaw: Bruce R. Shaw, P.E., PMP, has over forty years of experience in engineering, project management, organizational management and operations improvement. He has worked as an engineer, technical manager and project manager in the electronics, petrochemical, environmental and telecommunications industries for Exxon, Verizon, the State of New Jersey and others. Bruce now consults on project management principles and practices and teaches project management courses. He has helped prepare over two thousand project managers for the Project Management Professional (PMP�) exam. His clients are government, defense industry, and private sector organizations primarily in the Washington, D.C. area. Bruce is active in the Washington, D.C. chapter of PMI and served on its Board of Directors for eighteen years including two years as president. Following an initial six years as an engineer for an electronics firm, the majority of Bruce�s career was with Exxon (initially Esso and now ExxonMobil). During twenty years with that organization�s Research and Engineering Company Bruce managed operations improvement and petrochemical design and construction projects. He then worked for the Department of Environmental Protection in New Jersey where he established processes and procedures for the contracting and cleanup of hazardous waste sites. Bruce then continued work in the environmental area where he managed Superfund cleanup projects for Clean Sites, Inc. He was most recently the manager of the Program Management Office of the Information Systems Division of Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) where he helped establish improved processes and procedures and managed information systems projects. In addition to his primary activity, Bruce has always maintained a hand in teaching, beginning as a teaching assistant when he was in graduate school. He taught review courses for the Professional Engineering exam at Rutgers University in New Jersey for ten years and has been teaching review courses for the Project Management Professional exam for the Washington, D.C. chapter of the Project Management Institute since 1992. He has also developed and presented formal training programs in engineering and project management for his employers and has provided informal training and instruction throughout his entire career. Bruce received a Bachelor of Engineering degree (1961) and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering degree (1963) from Stevens Institute of Technology. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey (1971) and California (1981), and a certified Project Management Professional (1992).Expected Number of Attendees
