IT Portfolio Management for the Federal Sector

This event qualifies for 1.5 CLPs

Course Overview

The administration has publicly announced the “Campaign to Cut Waste” and every federal agency is being challenged to do “More IT Innovation with Less IT Budget”. That means less duplication, less waste, while also providing more accessibility, more privacy, more security, more mobility, more apps, more speed, more cloud, more visibility, more transparency, etc. And the administration wants the changes now – hence PortfolioStat.

PortfolioStat is the new tool that agencies will use to assess their portfolio management process, make decisions on eliminating duplication and waste, and ultimately maximize return on IT investments. Agencies are required to act quickly as survey responses regarding the status of their IT portfolio are due by May 31st, 2012.

This 90 minute session will include an overview of the PortfolioStat process including a detailed review of the portfolio management survey responses due on May 31st. The session will couple the review of PortfolioStat with a practical, “let’s get it done fast and cheap”, approach to IT Portfolio Management. We will initially demonstrate how to measure the maturity for your current IT portfolio management process. Then we will provide a step by step methodology to improve your IT portfolio management capability. Our methodology will will focus on established best practices, tips for success tailored for the federal sector, and the readily available resources to help you get started.
