NG911: It's More than Just the Technology: Lessons for Dispatch and Law Enforcement
When the term “Next Generation 911” is heard, we often think about changes in technology. What isn’t thought about is how the Next Generation of 911 is not only about adapting to new technology, but new practices and models of training, retention, hiring, and other personnel-related matters in the center and the shifts we’ve seen so far. In this webinar, we’ll take a look at how personnel systems put in place during the “Legacy 911” period no longer meet the needs of the Next Generation of 911 personnel.
Speaker and Presenter Information
Halcyon Frank is the Director of Training and Development for the Denise Amber Lee Foundation and has spent over 7 years in emergency communications. She has spent much of her dispatch career training new telecommunicators and developing training curricula and resources regarding various dispatch skills, supervisory and leadership-related topics. This experience also led her to previously create The Dispatch Lab, a dispatch training company. When not busy traveling and training or developing online courses, Halcyon still works under the headset taking 911 calls and dispatching. She holds the Emergency Number Professional Certification from the National Emergency Number Association and a degree in Training and Development.
