From the Center to the Edge: The Next Cyber Challenge

Attacks against government networks are on the rise, but security breaches are no longer limited to servers and networks. Throughout government, cyber policies are taking effect from the macro-level to the user level and everywhere in between. Agencies are placing a renewed focus on continuous monitoring, working to streamline security testing and accreditation processes and putting new limits on desktop computers – whether by banning external drives or moving towards thin-clients. For example, to guard against breaches, data loss, and insider threats, many agencies that handle sensitive data have begun enforcing the principle of isolation. Limiting devices that can access classified networks to the bare minimum has increased costs, reduced workplace efficiency, and succeeded in isolating the network not merely from threats, but from those whose mission depends on it. Making security work at all levels, from the Secretary level to Department’s IT shop to the battlefield to the desktop computer, has proven to be more challenging than ever.

Join Citrix and fellow CXOs, IT, compliance, network and cyber security analysts and thought-leaders on March 22 at 7:30 a.m., for an in-depth discussion on the current challenges faced by agencies as they aim to surmount security challenges and meet the agency mission – from the macro-level to the user-level and everywhere in between.

Learning objectives include:

  • An overview of the security challenges faced by sensitive environments
  • The limits of thin-clients in meeting increasing intelligence workload demands, including 3D graphics, computationally-complex applications and high-definition video
  • The role of technologies like desktop virtualization in supporting greater flexibility and mobility
  • How agencies can use technology to enable secure access and collaboration by any worker on any device
  • The security certification environment and how agencies meet FISMA, NIST and DIACAP standards

Speakers Include:

  • Kurt Roemer, Chief Security Strategist, Citrix Systems
