The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, signed into law in November 2021, will unleash a flood of funding for a vast array of construction projects, including electric grid and energy improvements, roads and bridges, public transit, and water systems to name just a few. It is worth celebrating that so much will be repaired, replaced, or new-built. It also highlights a new opportunity to bring digitization to the construction industry, bringing the flexibility and transparency needed to manage public projects of this scale.
These projects may take years to complete and will employ thousands of people – the need for digitization has never been greater. Agencies will need the ability to collaborate from multiple locations in real-time and to be able to predict and correct issues before they become a problem. In addition, agencies will be expected to report on project status to stakeholders and the public, manage multiple funding sources, and accurately track costs, all while being extremely efficient across projects. The need for complete transparency and accountability for tax dollars has never been higher. The scrutiny will be intense, and public agencies will be held accountable for the outcomes of this legislation.
Join us as thought leaders from government and industry discuss the role of digital technology in managing the ins and outs of public works projects when dozens – or hundreds – of them are happening all at once, all across the country.
