Quantum Communications and NISTs Information Technology Laboratory (ITL)
Oliver Slattery is the Leader of the ‘Quantum Communications and Networking Project’ in NIST’s Information Technology Laboratory (ITL). During this 30 minute presentation, Oliver Slattery will provide an introductory overview of quantum communications and networking. He will include a description of the phenomena exhibited by single particles of light called ‘Photons’, explaining how these interesting phenomena are exploited for secure communications beginning with quantum cryptography implemented by one photon and then by the counter-intuitive ‘entanglement’ of two physically separated photons. He will introduce ongoing research in his project and highlight some NIST-led initiatives.
