Women consist of almost 2 million or about 10% of the total current veteran population, and the number is expected to continue to rise. Recent legislation, both the John Scott Hannon Veterans Mental Health Bill and Deborah Sampson Act, is working to bolster services for women veterans in areas such as counseling, women health providers, retrofitting VA facilities, and more.
