Joining Forces: Interagency Collaboration and "Smart Power"

Joining Forces: Interagency Collaboration and “Smart Power”

Monday, December 5, 2011
2:00 PM EST

A single approach to addressing U.S. foreign policy has become a thing of the past.

Emerging threats in national security require a coordination of government forces in diplomacy,

defense and development. How effectively are agencies working together to address an

increasingly complex global environment?

Join The Government Business Council, the research arm of Government Executive, to

hear the results of a recent survey on federal reactions to global challenges and learn:

  • If current attitudes towards smart power, collaboration & mission priorities have shifted in the past year;
  • How effective are agencies working with interagency partners, NGOs, and the private sector;
  • How agencies other than Defense, State and USAID are contributing to geopolitical challenges;
  • Whether the “smart power” approach to foreign policy may change as Secretary Clinton & Admiral Mike Mullen leave office.

Moderated by:
Erin Dian Dumbacher, Associate Director of Research, Government Business Council
