Federal Insights Exchange Session - Lifetime Care Of Vets

This event qualifies for 1 CLPs

A 2019 Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) article offered an “…analysis of all US military casualties from October 2001 through December 2017 found that survival among the most critically injured casualties increased 3-fold during the course of the conflicts and that 3 key interventions (tourniquets, blood transfusions, and prehospital transport within 60 minutes) were associated with 44% of mortality reduction” (Howard, Kotwal, Stern).  Howard, et al also reported, “Across 16 years of conflict, military trauma system advancements, namely, improvements in methods to control bleeding, replace blood, and reduce time to treatment, may be associated with increased survival of battle casualties”.

These advancements also come with challenges.  There are a projected 18.82M Vets living in the United States today.  The range of support and services this population needs is complex and growing.

Come hear how the leaders of Military Support/Veterans Support Organizations are helping address these needs.
