U.S. Department of State/Foreign Service Institute/Shultz Center

This event is a one-day tabletop exposition, held on-site where attendees can interact with industry vendors who are displaying their products and services.

Attendees are not only DOS employees but any government employee that is planning to travel overseas. In 2008, approximately 150 students, faculty, department heads, executive leadership, deans and administrative staff participated in this annual event.

U.S. Department of State`s Foreign Service Institute`s (formerly known as the National Foreign Affairs Training Center-NFATC) mission is to train Department of State and foreign affairs employees, both in the U.S. and overseas in foreign language, information technology, professional and area studies, leadership training and transition studies.

The Foreign Service Institute has developed a series of language-learning courses for use by the State Department and other government agencies. These courses have been developed, tested by use, and improved over a period of many years. Working with the Departments of Defense, Education, other government agencies, and various universities, FSI has created the largest body of complete courses for languages of the world available anywhere.
