AFFIRM 2018 Leadership Awards Celebration

The annual AFFIRM Leadership Awards Celebration is the recognition of outstanding leadership in the Federal Government since 1979.

The AFFIRM Leadership Awards are among the most prestigious of the Federal community, honoring individual and team outstanding leadership from the preceding year. First awarded in 1979, award honorees join a prestigious list of agency executives and managers. Awards are for demonstrated leadership leading to successes in specific categories such as IT Management, Cyber Security, Mobile Technology, Innovation, Cloud Computing, Big Data and related areas. In addition, there are special categories for a Congressional Leadership Award and an Industry Executive Leadership Award.

The Leadership Awardees will be recognized and honored at the Thursday, June 28, 2018 AFFIRM Annual Leadership Celebration, an after work reception from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the St. Regis Hotel, Washington, DC.

2018 AWARD CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS

Executive Leadership in Information Technology (Civilian) 
Presented for outstanding executive leadership in government-wide information technology. The AFFIRM Executive Leadership Award has been presented annually since 1979 and is the highest and most prestigious AFFIRM award.  

Executive Leadership in Information Technology (DoD and Intelligence) 
Presented for outstanding executive leadership in government-wide information technology. The AFFIRM Executive Leadership Award has been presented annually and is the highest and most prestigious AFFIRM award for members of the Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense.

Executive Leadership Award for Industry (Large) 
Presented for superior leadership in business and technology within the government technology community.  This award is presented to an executive who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and contributions to the community within and beyond information technology. 

Executive Leadership Award for Industry (Small) 
Presented for superior leadership in business and technology within the government technology community.  This award is presented to an executive of an SBA-defined small business who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and contributions to the community within and beyond information technology.   

Congressional Leadership Award 
This award is presented to a member or staff member of either the House or Senate who has exemplified outstanding leadership in developing legislation, providing oversight and review or other actions which support the improvement of the effective and efficient management of information technology in the federal government. 

Leadership Award in Acquisition and Procurement 
Presented for leadership excellence in government information services for acquisition and procurement improvement and effectiveness for the government or for their Agency.

Leadership Award for Service to the Citizen and the Country
Presented for leadership excellence in management information technology for improved services to the citizen or on a national level for their Country. 

Leadership in Health Information Technology 
Presented for leadership excellence in providing information technology health services government-wide or for an Agency.

Leadership in Technology Innovation 
Presented for leadership excellence in innovative technology or innovation government-wide or for an Agency.

Leadership in Cyber Security 
Presented for leadership excellence in protecting government mission critical data and systems government-wide or for an Agency. 

Leadership in Cloud Computing
Presented for leadership excellence in implementation or management of Cloud Computing government-wide or for an Agency.

Leadership in Big Data and Data Analytics
Presented for leadership excellence in implementation or management of Big Data or Data Analytics government-wide or for an Agency.

Rockstar Rookie
Although this individual has only been at your organization less than three years, this award is presented for consistent leadership excellence as a new leader in the technology space. The individual has offered exciting and new ideas in the field and is always thinking outside the box. This person has proven to be a real gamechanger and you look forward to seeing them grow professionally.
