NLC University Leadership Summit 2017
The NLC University Leadership Summit is an annual workshop for elected and appointed officials, city staff and industry professionals. Every year the summit offers an opportunity to study an aspect of city leadership in-depth in an intimate setting.
A common goal among local officials is to foster an inclusive, collaborative and engaged community. However, the pathway to an inclusive community is complex. Getting there takes a holistic approach. That’s why this year’s leadership summit will delve into the many sides of leadership for inclusion.
During this two-day meeting, you will strategize with your peers on a viable inclusion action plan to implement in your city. You will learn how to capitalize on a shared passion or purpose to increase civic engagement, and you’ll learn how to activate public discussions focused on improving inclusion in your community. Workshop topics include:
- Personal Development: How your inclusion approach impacts local, state, and federal governing
- How Civic Engagement Builds Inclusion: Utilizing a unified purpose that bridges the community
- Conversation on Inclusion and Equity: Training and tools to implement a practical inclusion model
New this year, we’re bringing NLC’s Big Ideas for Cities event to the Leadership Summit, where you’ll hear innovative ideas first-hand from mayors who have brought change to their cities.
