The Use of Mobile Technology to Improve Perioperative Safety, OR Efficiency, Patient Experience, and Patient Outcome
View our on-demand complimentary webinar to learn how the use of mobile technology is able to improve overall patient experience and patient outcome.
The Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center (DC VA) strives to be the leader in the nation for perioperative care. The goal of the DC VA is to initiate a change in the perioperative process by:
- Improving efficiency to deliver more efficient healthcare
- Leveraging computer software to automate the process of safety checklists to reduce surgical errors
- Engaging patients before surgery to reduce cancellations, no-shows, and delays
Achieving these three objectives will be possible by leveraging new technologies like mobile devices, large screen displays, and data analytics to combine concepts of LEAN principles, perioperative surgical home, and enhanced recovery after surgery.
Mobile devices have the ability to bring information to all members of the surgical team in real time. This delivery of information empowers the providers, the patient, and the patient's family to engage in the entire perioperative process.
Mobile technology brings efficiency, better care, and improves patient satisfaction. Such a technology makes the patient the center of all efforts, allowing the providers to better coordinate patient care and optimize workflow and the use of our valuable resource.
