Understanding Enterprise Architecture Basics

This event qualifies for 11 PDUs PMI

In 1996 Congress enacted the Clinger-Cohen Act, which after becoming law, instituted a process across the federal government that required Chief Information Officers to implement technology in the context of an Architecture.  By 2002 OMB was leading the effort to identify opportunities to simplify processes and unify work across agencies with the goal of maximizing technology investments to deliver a more citizen-centered, customer focused government.  Enterprise Architecture (EA) has become a common practice within government to ensure business strategies align with agency IT investments. Every agency in the US Federal Government is required by law to have and use an Architecture in the selection and use of Information Technology…whether it does may be another question. In the private sector and state and local government it is less clear what drives the use of EA however its utilization is widespread and considered a best practice.

This two-day training seminar provides attendees the fundamentals of Enterprise Architecture and a comprehensive overview of how it can be applied within the organization or agency. The course is targeted to those who want to understand what Enterprise Architecture actually is, how it is created and used in Government and Industry to optimize processes and use of resources.

The class is a perfect way to learn enough about EA to know whether you may be interested in a career path in EA or investing in becoming a certified E-Architect.

Course attendees will learn:

  • An overview of the Basic Concepts of Enterprise Architecture, where they came from and their significance in decision making
