Employment Law Update in Indiana
This event qualifies for Varied HRPD, SHRM, NASBA
Learn practices to properly prepare workplace policies to avoid enforcement action by the EEOC, DOL and NLRB.
Employers often fall into one of two categories with regard to employment law compliance. One category consists of employers who are simply unaware of their responsibilities implicated by the ADA, the PDA, wage and hour laws, and EEOC and NLRB enforcement initiatives. The second group consists of employers who are aware of their responsibilities under these laws, but are overwhelmed by the scope of issues that they present. This topic helps employers identify when their duty to accommodate is triggered under the ADA and the PDA, and how to satisfy their responsibilities to engage in the interactive process. Also identify recent wage and hour developments from the US DOL so employers may review their employee classifications and job descriptions to proactively prepare for upcoming changes in wage and hour and DOL enforcement initiatives.
Learning Objectives
- You will be able to identify and reduce liability risks associated with accommodation and discipline issues under the ADA and the PDA.
- You will be able to recognize potential wage and hour pitfalls and avoid costly back pay and other DOL enforcement liability.
- You will be able to discuss reasonable accommodation requests with employees as required by the interactive process of the ADA.
- You will be able to review and revise work place policies that draw scrutiny from the NLRB.
