The CISO Challenge!

Michael is the Executive Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Rosenthal Collins Group, LLC. He serves as Co-Executive of the Information Technology Group and senior advisor to the Chairman / CEO, providing insights on various aspects of Operational Risk Management, including Information Assurance & Privacy Protection.

Owner of the Security consulting practice Luminant Group, LLC he also specializes as a virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) for small to medium-sized businesses that cannot afford to put someone full-time on staff to handle cyber security and regulatory compliance matters. In this capacity, he helps executives to develop information security strategy, perform risk assessments, build cyber security programs, develop company-wide policies and work with on-site teams to implement remediation efforts.

Prior to joining RCG, Michael served in several Information Security Executive roles including the Assistant Vice President & Information Security Officer (ISO) of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago as well as the Director of IT Security for the Americas at UBS (formerly Swiss Bank Corp.).

Michael received his first Technology Degree from DeVry Institute of Technology, a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Computer Sciences from Northwestern University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Northwestern Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

An active member of InfraGard, High Tech Crime Consortium, Chicago Electronic Crimes Task Force, etc., Michael also holds the C|CISO, CISSP, CISA and NSA IAM Certifications and serves on the Board of Directors of the Arts & Business Council of Chicago.
