APICS Health Logistics Seminar
Complex industries such as aviation, transportation, telecom, manufacturing, aerospace, and pharmaceuticals have seen benefits of applying systems engineering. There is a tremendous opportunity and mounting evidence of dramatic outcomes improvement among early adopters to apply systems engineering principles and practices more broadly in healthcare. Healthcare is an ecosystem and complex system of systems. Industrial, Systems Engineering, and Systems Science can play a pivotal role in improving efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare systems, reducing waste, and improving reliability. The purpose of the presentation is to frame the context and establish a case for using Health Systems Engineering concepts and principles to achieve triple aim and learning healthcare foundations.

How Supply Chain Professionals Can Contribute to Public Health Care
This session will demonstrate the opportunities for Supply Chain professionals to contribute to Public Health Care outside the United States. The demands of public health care require the application of supply chain best practices and interaction with commercial companies in the distribution of pharmaceutical and medical products. The challenge of public health care is to deliver pharmaceutical and medical products to end users while working through a large universe of stakeholders, regulations, geographical diversity and resource constraints. This session will explore supply chain best practices which can enhance the efficiency of public health care logistics. The session will exam the evolution of Governments and Non-Governmental Organizations in providing health care to emerging nations as a supply chain challenge. Modern supply chain practices, including greater availability of technology, are enhancing the effectiveness of public health care.
