Give Me 5: Special Unit Construction: Defending Against Protests
Small business owners in the construction industry are among businesses that spend the most seeking federal contracts, investing an average $172,058 per contract, according to a survey by American Express OPEN. Once awarded a contract, however, competitors still have the option to appeal, or protest, the decision and may attack the eligibility of your business for the contract you have won.
The Give Me 5 program is hosting a series of webinars on best practices in procurement specific to the construction industry. The next installment in the series, on June 3rd, will discuss how to protect your federally awarded contract from competitor appeals by avoiding common affiliation, control and ownership pitfalls. Construction law specialists, Jennifer Horn and Maria Panichelli of Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall & Furman PC, will instruct the webinar.
The Give Me 5 program was created by American Express OPEN and Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) in 2008 to help women business owners get a leg up on selling to the world’s largest customer: the U.S. government. The final installment in the construction series will cover negotiation tactics for women subcontractors.
