Post-Conference Field Trip
Thursday, August 14, 2014
12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

EPA, with assistance from the USDA Forest Service, is planning a field trip to the Nacimiento Copper Mine. The mine is an abandoned open pit copper mine that was also the site for in-situ leaching operations that contaminated the underlying groundwater. Nacimiento is a pump and treat operation using a semi passive rock substrate bioreactor located in the Santa Fe National Forest near Cuba, New Mexico. The tour will include the bioreactor, pit lake and extraction well fields.

Registration for the field trip is free, but pre-registration is required. Capacity for the field trip is limited so registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
