T-TIP Roundtable Trade Barriers Affecting U.S. Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Exporting to the European Union
T-TIP Roundtable – Trade Barriers Affecting U.S. Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Exporting to the European Union
Recently, the United States began negotiations for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP), a wide-ranging trade agreement with the European Union (EU). A key priority in negotiating this agreement is to help U.S. small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) become more competitive worldwide.
The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) has been commissioned by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to study the trade barriers that U.S. SMEs often face when exporting to the EU. Trade barriers can include prohibitive tariffs; product quotas limiting U.S. firms’ sales to some EU countries; costly and complex EU regulatory and product registration requirements; and more.
We hope you will join us in discussing this historic agreement, and providing feedback to USITC about challenges and opportunities for your business in the EU and how the T-TIP might be able to help.
Specific areas of discussion will include:
- EU-wide barriers to trade faced by U.S. SME exporters across all industries
- Specific trade barriers in individual EU countries
- Suggestions on ways to increase U.S. SME market access in the EU
The roundtable will be facilitated by the U.S. International Trade Commission.
