Overview of EW Modeling and Simulation

This is an overview discussion of Electronic Warfare Modeling and Simulation. It explains the purposes of Modeling and Simulation and the basic approaches. It also discusses the steps in developing a model and the required fidelity for two simulation missions: training and test & evaluation (T&E). Among the concepts covered are the roles of spherical trigonometry, propagation models, the gaming area, and dynamic scenarios.

Speaker and Presenter Information

Mr. Dave Adamy President, Adamy Engineering Dave Adamy has been an EW Systems Engineer, in and out of uniform, for 50 years � working on EW systems from just above DC to just above daylight, mounted on platforms from submarines to space. Almost all of these systems included emitter location capabilities. Since 1984, he has run his own company, performing studies for the US Government and defense contractors. He has also presented dozens of courses in the US and allied countries on EW and related subjects. He has published over 200 professional articles on EW, receiver system design and closely related subjects, including the popular EW101 column in the Journal of Electronic Defense. He holds an MSEE (Communication theory) and has eleven books in print.
