2013 DOE HQ Cybersecurity Awareness Day

On October 9th, the Department of Energy HQ Building will be hosting a Cyber Security Awareness Day featuring a technology expo. DoE will be looking for a wide range of cyber security industry experts to showcase their latest technologies. The ability to demonstrate to this otherwise unattainable personnel will be a great opportunity to get your company's information out to the Department of Energy.

There will be cyber security awareness training/sessions that will be focused on Missing and Exploited Children, Privacy Issues, and the Human Components of Cyber Security in the DoE Auditorium.

About the Agency:

DoE Mission: The mission of the Energy Department is to ensure America’s security and prosperity by addressing its energy, environmental and nuclear challenges through transformative science and technology solutions.

Energy- Catalyze the timely, material, and efficient transformation of the nation’s energy system and secure U.S. leadership in clean energy technologies.

Science and Innovation- Maintain a vibrant U.S. effort in science and engineering as a cornerstone of our economic prosperity with clear leadership in strategic areas.

Nuclear Safety and Security- Enhance nuclear security through defense, nonproliferation, and environmental efforts.

Management and Operational Excellence- Establish an operational and adaptable framework that combines the best wisdom of all Department stakeholders to maximize mission success.

The Department expends approximately 90% of its budget through a variety of contracts and financial assistance agreements making it one of the largest civilian departments in the federal government.  Through these expenditures we impact a variety of industries and individuals across the nation.  Our operations are nation-wide. The majority of our contract dollars are expended through a relatively small number of large Management and Operating (M&O) contracts (including Federally Funded Research and Development Centers) as well as large site and facility environmental cleanup contracts.
